Nurse Practitioner – Correctional / Mental Health
Location: town outside Syracuse, NY
Start Date: 4/6/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks (flexible); potential for extension

Schedule

Day shifts
Variety of schedules: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
No call
Full‑time schedule


Practice Details

Correctional psychiatric setting
Collaborative work with offsite/on‑call physician
Perform physical exams, diagnose conditions, and manage treatment plans within NP scope
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
Develop and document patient care plans
Provide ongoing management of mental health and medical needs in a secure facility

Clinical Scope

Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic psychiatric and medical conditions
Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within specialty certification
Coordinate with multidisciplinary staff for comprehensive care planning
Refer to specialty services when needed
Maintain detailed and timely documentation
Work independently within correctional environment while following state practice regulations


Requirements

Nurse Practitioner – Psychiatry (specialty certification required)
Active New York NP license required
Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in NY
DEA not specified
Minimum experience not specified
COVID‑19 vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
PAs not considered
