Location: Dallas, TX
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Any 2 nights per week, Tuesday–Saturday
Priority Consideration: Local providers preferred
Position Details
Patient Population: Adult psychiatric patients
Occasional psychiatric consultation for pediatric patients in the Main Emergency Department
Call Requirement: None
Provider will be onsite for all scheduled shifts
EMR: Epic
Patient Volume
The facility includes:
Two Psychiatric Emergency Units (PED and PEU)
One Psychiatric ER Consult Team supporting the Main ED and psychiatric intake area
Expected Volumes:
Providers assigned to PED/PEU manage up to 10 patients per shift
Consult team providers average 5–6 patients during a 12-hour shift
Responsibilities
Conduct initial and follow-up psychiatric evaluations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
Communicate recommendations to consulting teams and place orders as appropriate
Complete physician-to-physician communication for transfers between PED/PEU and Main ED
Consult additional services as needed (e.g., Hospitalist Medicine)
Complete legal documentation for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization (OPC applications)
Perform physician-only tasks supporting APPs, including:
Restraint orders
Face-to-face evaluations
OPC application review and signature
Admit patients to psychiatric observation when indicated
Requirements
Board Certification Required – BC ONLY
Minimum of 26 shifts available during the assignment
