We advocate for our patients and families and create space for personal engagement in their care.

We are outpatient specialists for mental health services for older adults and youth, substance use providers and treatment program specialists, advocates for quality improvement and patients’ rights, and psychiatric and integrated health care providers.

The POSITION
Under direction, to plan, organize, and direct a large group of closely related services or programs in a public health or mental health department; to coordinate services with other County health agencies; to provide professional consultation; and to do related work as required.

Physician V incumbents manage a division/department in the Health Care Service Agency. It is further distinguished from the classification of Physician IV in that the Physician IV exercises functional and administrative supervision over a program. They report directly to a Medical or Department Director.

The current vacancy is for a position with psychiatric specialty which requires successful completion of a four-year residency in psychiatry. However, the eligible list resulting from this recruitment will be used to fill future vacancies with or without specialty designations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition to the minimum qualifications and knowledge and skills listed below, ideal candidates for the current vacancy will have experience overseeing psychiatric services in a county setting, behavioral health organization, acute psychiatric facility, or integrated medical/behavioral health facility. They will be well-versed in the WIC, LPS, and other legislative matters related to county operations, as well as the provision and oversight of outpatient pharmacy, nursing, and general behavioral health (mental health and substance use) treatment requirements.
Ideal candidates will also:
• Have an acute understanding of, and experience with, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, services, and delivery.
• Be a solid effective leader who aligns the organization’s vision and values and manages work groups by inspiring and advising subordinates, facilitating goal accomplishment, and tracking and evaluating performance to ensure success.
