JOB DESCRIPTION

Employees in this position complete a variety of assignments as a Safety Sensitive Mental Health Professional 
(SSMHP) by providing basic mental health services to inmates under the supervision of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The SSMHP will focus on identifying and triaging inmates with mental illness or a mental disability. The services provided will be of a limited nature and attempt to allow mentally ill/disabled inmates functionality in a jail environment. Additionally the SSMHP will help identify inmates for referral to in-custody mental health service providers and upon release from custody referrals to area mental health service providers.  
 
Additional Position Duties 
Knowledge of mental health assessments and interpretation of such assessments based on scope of license and training. 
Knowledge of crisis evaluation and intervention. 
Knowledge of treatment plan development and implementation. 
Knowledge of human, emotional, social, psychological and environmental problems and techniques to alleviate them. 
Knowledge of the current literature in the corrections mental health field. 
Knowledge of the techniques for observing and assessing behavior.
