The State of Connecticut, Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS) is recruiting for a Regional Long Term Care Ombudsman. This position will be accountable for providing advocacy services to represent the interests of and resolve problems for residents of long-term care facilities and serve as a focal point for advocacy related to long term services and supports and quality of care on behalf of the residents. 
 
The Mission of the Department of Aging and Disability Services is to maximize opportunities for the independence and well-being of people with disabilities and older adults in Connecticut. Our programs, policies and practices are designed to:  
 
Deliver aging and disability services responsive to the needs of Connecticut citizens 
Provide leadership on aging and disability issues statewide 
Provide and coordinate aging and disability programs and services in the areas of employment, education, independent living, accessibility and advocacy 
Advocate for the rights of Connecticut residents with disabilities and older adults 
Serve as a resource on aging and disability issues at the state level

The typical work schedule will be from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. This position will be located in our offices in Manchester, at 699 East Middle Turnpike. 
 
Although the current vacancy will be in our Manchester Office, we have anticipated openings for our offices in Bridgeport, Hartford, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, and Waterbury.
