Job Title: Inpatient Psychiatrist – 7 On / 7 Off Rotation
Location: Oroville, California
Position Overview
A hospital-based behavioral health program is seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist for a 7 on / 7 off rotation. This role combines inpatient psychiatric care with a strong academic component, working closely with PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Job Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric care in an inpatient setting
Conduct daily rounds, evaluations, and medication management for hospitalized patients
Supervise and collaborate with PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents
Participate in teaching, mentorship, and clinical guidance of residents
Perform psychiatric assessments, develop treatment plans, and manage patient care
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, social work, and case management
Participate in discharge planning and care coordination
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Schedule & Working Hours
7 days on / 7 days off rotation
Daytime coverage during scheduled week
Inpatient unit coverage
Structured schedule supporting continuity of care
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Active California medical license (or ability to obtain)
DEA license required
Experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred
Interest or experience in teaching and supervising residents strongly preferred
