Sinnissippi Centers is looking for a School Based Counselor to work in an intensive, high-acuity, team-oriented school environment in Lee, Carroll, Stephenson and Whiteside Counties. This position would be working in tandem with guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators to help meet the mental health needs of students where they are. This position will work directly with school children, assisting them in meeting their mental health needs. Services will be provided on location at school and in natural settings - community or other locations where children feel most comfortable. School Based Clinicians working full-time can contract annually to reduce a 12-month continuous work arrangement to either a 9- or 10-month period each year where job duties and responsibilities permit.

School Based Clinicians working full-time can contract annually to reduce a 12-month continuous work arrangement to either a 9- or 10-month period each year where job duties and responsibilities permit. The salary would be adjusted and reflective of the number of weeks worked. Electing a 9-month plan spreads the current 9-month salary over 12 pay periods. During the summer leave, the employee retains eligibility for benefit plans. The employee is expected to return to their full work schedule and position at the end of the leave.

Objectives
Works cooperatively with teachers, guidance counselors, and administrative staff within their assigned buildings, including, but not limited to, relaying appropriate information to and from school facilities and coordinating services within the building
Interview potential clients to assess the need for direct mental health treatment of mental and emotional disorders or referral elsewhere
Provides comprehensive, medically necessary, and psychotherapeutic services for individuals to promote personal growth in the form of emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and/or psychological changes
Diagnostically assess, formulate, and complete the client's Individual Service Plan (ISP), inclusive of diagnosis, goals, and appropriate signatures.
Share and receive appropriate information with the teachers, guidance counselors, and administrative staff to collaborate with clients in the assigned buildings.
Educates clients and their families regarding their diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and therapeutic process;
Identifies, recommends, networks, and/or utilizes community resources to facilitate the highest possible mental health and addiction functioning of all assigned clients as needed

Salary: $51,405 - $59,758 (MHP/Bachelor's level); $59,116 - $68,870 (QMHP/Master's level). Salary is adjusted for 10-month positions.

Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred) from an accredited University or College in Social Work, Psychology or other human service related field required.
Licensure to provide mental health services, LCPC or LCSW preferred.
Demonstrated experience in the treatment of children, adolescents, adults and families; individually and in group modality.
Ability to problem solve complex and possible crisis mental health client problems.
Ability to develop and write clear, concise documents involving client outcome reporting requirements.
Excellent time management and interviewing skills and an ability to work with autonomy.
