About the Opportunity

A mission-driven, nonprofit Community Mental Health Center with nearly 50 years of service is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director. This permanent leadership role offers a hybrid or onsite schedule and the opportunity to guide psychiatric services for a diverse pediatric and adolescent population while supporting a multidisciplinary team.

The Medical Director will balance clinical care with administrative leadership, including oversight of PMHNPs, RNs, and clinical staff.

Position Details
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

  • Schedule: Hybrid or Onsite (flexible structure)

  • Setting: Outpatient Community Mental Health

  • Hours: Monday–Friday, daytime schedule

  • Location: Upstate NY (within reach of Albany & Saratoga Springs)

  • Start: ASAP (credentialing required)

Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership for Child & Adolescent psychiatric services

  • Supervise and mentor PMHNPs, RNs, and multidisciplinary clinical teams

  • Oversee clinical workflows, documentation standards, and medication management protocols

  • Ensure compliance with OMH, Medicaid, and state/federal regulations

  • Lead case reviews, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Collaborate with executive leadership on program development and strategic planning

Administrative duties typically represent 40–60% of the role.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct psychiatric care to children and adolescents, with some lifespan coverage as needed

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication management

  • Average 2–5 initial evaluations per week, with majority follow-up visits

  • Partner with a robust intake team that pre-screens and prepares cases

  • Participate in collaborative care with therapists, case managers, and support staff

Clinical duties typically represent 40–60% of the role.

Requirements
  • MD or DO with Board Certification/Eligibility in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Active or eligible New York medical license

  • Prior leadership or Medical Director experience preferred

  • Experience supervising PMHNPs, RNs, or multidisciplinary teams

  • Commitment to community mental health and underserved youth populations
