This county-operated program delivers mental health and substance use services to underserved youth and young adults throughout the region via a range of community-based programs. Services encompass transitional-age youth outpatient care, a youth wellness center, and behavioral health support embedded within the juvenile justice system. Points of interest include the National Steinbeck Center, the Steinbeck House, and the Boronda Adobe History Center, each reflecting the area's historical significance. Outdoor and leisure options encompass Toro County Park, Central Park, the Monterey Zoo, the Salinas Sports Complex, the California Rodeo Grounds, Northridge Mall, and The Farm.
The clinician will provide full-time outpatient psychiatric services, working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, divided between a Juvenile Hall program serving incarcerated youth ages 1318 and a Transitional-Age Youth (TAY) program serving patients ages 1625. Onsite presence is required for the TAY program, while telehealth coverage is permitted for the Juvenile Hall program, allowing a hybrid schedule. Clinical responsibilities include conducting initial psychiatric evaluations (60 minutes), medication checks (30 minutes), and managing cases involving psychosis, severe depression, early-onset bipolar disorder, severe OCD, and related conditions. Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is required for this position.
