Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Provider schedule can be negotiated, our business hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5. Provider can choose to do an 8-hour shift starting at 8:30, lunch, then finishing at 5:00 PM. Or provider can choose something like 9 AM to 1 PM 3 days a week, or 9 am to 3:00 PM 2 days a week. They can choose to have a lunch hour, half hour or no lunch. How ever many hours the provider decides to sign on for, he/she can design the schedule as long as it works for the clinic and is the same every week.
Requirement
Active CA State License Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (Certification must be obtained within 5 years of residency). Must be Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and neurology in adult and/or child psychiatry. Flu vaccination: Required or Need Medical or religious exemption. Covid vaccination: Required or Need Medical or religious exemption.
Summary/Duties
Performs needed psychiatric assessments, and provides ongoing medication management services for referred developmentally disabled patients with mental health disorders. Be eligible for MediCal/Medicare certification. Authorized to prescribe controlled substances.
Principal Responsibilities:
The following are the essential functions of the position. Contracted doctors are responsible for carrying out these functions:
§ Assumes psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSE’s) of patients/clients and providing diagnosis according to the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
§ Use Hope’s current electronic health record system and follow Santa Clara County Psychiatric Medical Guidelines. Interface closely with medical director, nurses, clinicians and case managers for a client-centered approach to mental health care.
§ Obtains and reviews data, including laboratory and other diagnostic procedures or consultations pertinent to the evaluation and treatment of patients/clients
§ Provides detailed written reports of assessments/evaluations, MSEs, diagnoses and summaries of treatment provided, and completes all medical records as required.
§ Provides specialized input in the development and implementation of individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned patients/clients, including diagnosis in collaboration with the clinical staff.
§ Provides psychiatric services in outpatient clinics (via telehealth, and/or in the office)
§ Provides consultation, review, and peer guidance for other psychiatrists or therapists in the evaluation and treatment of patients.
§ Consults with the medical director or clinic Director about policies and issues relating to the evaluation and treatment of mental health patients/clients as necessary.
§ Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and performance improvement programs and activities when needed.
§ Provides expert advice and counseling for client families and care givers regarding patient/client issues, problems and course of treatment, presenting information about mental health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and how the two intersect.
§ Prepares legal and other court-related documents, written reports, and various forms when deemed necessary and appropriate.
Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to perform specialized psychiatric/medical services in general psychiatry, evaluate and prescribe medication, (including controlled substances) and other treatments
2. Provide qualified reimbursable services under guidelines of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Regional Centers, and County Mental Health and other funding sources
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients/clients, staff and others.
