Position Overview
Somerset Treatment Services (STS), a trusted nonprofit serving the community since 1970, is seeking a compassionate and driven Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team. This role provides a mix of individual and group counseling, intake assessments, and care coordination for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions.

You’ll be part of a mission-driven team delivering life-saving treatment, including Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), in a supportive outpatient setting.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $50,000 – $55,000 annually (based on experience)
Flexible scheduling (Full-Time or Part-Time options)

📍 Somerville, NJ
Conveniently located near major highways with access to local hospitals and community partners.

Work Environment & Schedule
Outpatient SUD treatment setting (including OTP services)
Work with adults experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders

Schedule Options:
Full-Time: 7.5-hour shifts (Monday–Friday)
Part-Time: Up to 24 hours/week
Some evening availability required
No on-call responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Conduct intake assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations
Provide individual and group counseling
Develop and update person-centered treatment plans
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Collaborate with medical, clinical, and recovery support teams
Support engagement, retention, and recovery outcomes

Requirements
Experience: Minimum 1 year in substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health
Credentials: CADC required; LCADC strongly preferred (or working toward)
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (Associate degree considered with experience)
Strong documentation, communication, and engagement skills
Ability to work with diverse populations in a fast-paced clinical setting
