Counseling Therapist Overview
Love and encourage Men of Valor staff, volunteers, and participants in such a way that reflects and honors Christ. Represent Men of Valor as a therapist to counsel and inform our students and the incarcerated population about trauma, addiction, and therapy. Work closely with the Counseling Program Manager to cultivate a safe and healthy environment for Men of Valor staff and participants, to include the launching and supporting of a more robust counseling program for Men of Valor at our Knoxville Valor Way reentry campus.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist Counseling Program Manager in providing counseling services onsite:
• Carry a minimum caseload of 12 clients at the Knoxville campus.
• Perform full assessments, treatment plans, and mental health student supervision.
• Facilitate group therapy sessions.
• Implement the most effective modalities for ACE’s & prison trauma (EMDR, IFS, CBT, etc.)
• Implement curriculum and best practices surrounding trauma and addiction for programming, and individual and group therapy for incarcerated and reentering populations.
• Teach classes on trauma and recovery as needed.
• Schedule sessions for university interns and MOV students:
• Work with Front-Line Team to determine participants for counseling.
• Attend monthly and quarterly full-staff meetings.
• Attend monthly front-line team & counseling team meetings.
• Other duties as needed or assigned.

• Must be able to use discretion in matters related to the ministry and use your best judgment to problem solve and guide the client through Biblical principles.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Access, knowledge, and daily utilization of office equipment, Microsoft Office Suite, Google, TEAMS, and QuickBooks Payroll & TIME applications.
• Strong record keeping ability and skills.
Requirements
• A post master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family, or related field.
• Temporary license with required supervision by state law or fully licensed in one of the following: LPC, LCSW, LMFT.
• Required to work a flexible schedule including two nights from 1-9PM and weekend availability.
• A valid driver’s license and active personal car insurance.
• Personal professional liability insurance.
• Travel required to attend ministry events and functions (upon request).
• Willingness to get badged with TDOC and CoreCivic prisons.
